Character Name: Shinji Kido
Source Canon: Kamen Rider Ryuki
Community Tag: Shinji Kido (Ryuki)

Notes: Shinji's personality will focus on the series Kamen Rider Ryuki with no mentioning of previous timelines. (The 13 Riders special and/or the movie Episode Final.)

Background: History for Shinji Kido

Personality: Shinji's a good-natured, friendly but naive idealist with optimistic traits. He hopes to prove to his boss that he can be a good journalist and conduct good interviews like Reiko. Once becoming Kamen Rider Ryuki, Shinji's questioned by Ren after one of a number of arguments they have if his resolve is strong enough to take a life. Shinji also desires to work together with the other Kamen Riders in an effort to stop the Rider War. With the exception of Tezuka, his efforts aren't that successful. (An example of this is where Shinji tries to reason with Kamen Rider Scissors early on in the series. He leaves a calling card for Scissors to pick up in his human identity. Unfortunately, Shinji was led into a trap as Scissors tricks him into revealing both Knight's identity as well as Yui's. As a result, Yui's kidnapped. After he's rescued her, Shinji's chastised by Ren for his idealogy getting Yui kidnapped. Shinji angrilly goes to confront Scissors later, deeming that he'll never forgive him for what nearly happened. Ren tells him not to fight because he's mad -he should fight because he's a Kamen Rider.)

Shinji also has a knack for being clumsy as he's knocked over his fair share of dishes in the Atori cafe when he's able to help out. He apologizes afterward and tries to rectify his mistakes, which is also what he does quite a few times throughout the series -apologizes for things that may or may not be entirely his fault. Shinji's frustrated by the majority of the other Riders' decisions in regard to their wishes or personal desires. He's disgusted by Kitaoka's smug-like attitude and doesn't approve of him going after Reiko, though he has worked with him on some occasions. He even tried to understand Asakura, despite his maniacal and psychotic expression, when he saved a young girl though that abruptly changed when he left her and claimed she was just bait. Ren's seemingly cold and distant attitude always seemed to clash with Shinji's quite a number of times which led to their many arguments throughout the series. Shinji's repeated offers of friendship eventually win Ren over, though he would never admit it and the two still maintain a rivalry of sorts afterward. Shinji is also indecisive on a number of things, specifically on what his wish should be. During this time he tries hiding his doubts and negative emotions from Yui by pretending to be optimistic and joyful. He also 'desires' to fight the other Riders. By this time Shinji's idealistic and positive attitude had rubbed off on most of the Riders -even if he didn't believe so himself- and they didn't want to fight him. After some deep thinking, Shinji returned to normal and wasn't acting like he had been the past few days. Despite the fact that he wasn't able to fulfill his wish as a Rider, Shinji remained steadfast and never wavered on his determination to protect people from the monsters. When time is restored back to normal after Yui dies, Shinji is still the same as he'd been at the start of the series- good-natured and friendly but still a little naive about certain things.

Capabilities and Resources: Shinji uses his Advent deck to transform into Kamen Rider Ryuki.

Robot Name: See above
Rider Powers: Using his aforementioned Advent deck, any type of mirror or reflective surface, Shinji can transform into Kamen Rider Ryuki. As Ryuki, Shinji can cross into the alternative dimension known as Mirror World but he can only exit the same way he came and Ryuki can only remain in Mirror World for a certain amount of time before he begins to disintegrate. His powers are all augmented by his Mirror Monster who he made a contract with, the dragon called Dragreder. His strength is enhanced and thanks to his cards Shinji has both close-and long-range based attacks in his arsenal.

Sword Vent: A sword-like saber is summoned and tossed to Shinji by Dragreder for him to use.
Strike Vent: A dragon-shaped gauntlet is attached to Shinji's right hand, which shoots a burst of flames; Dragreder assists with this as well.
Advent: Dragreder is summoned for attack or support.
Guard Vent: A dragon-like shield array appears on Shinji's arms.
Final Vent: Ryuki's ultimate attack. Dragreder appears as Shinji leaps into the air and fires a burst of flame; the aforementioned flames surrounds Ryuki and power him up as he performs his Dragon Rider Kick.

Shinji scans his cards through the Drag Visor, a card reader that's mounted on his left forearm and resembles Dragreder's head. He can't transform into Ryuki or go into Mirror World without his deck. Dragreder gains strength by eating other lifeforms in the form of energy, so Shinji will restrict it from eating anything but attacking monsters. Shinji's contract card, also known as Advent, is vital to him controlling Dragreder. If he doesn't have it, or if he decides not to fulfill his contract, Dragreder will attack and/or eat him as a result of these consequences.

Terrain Stats:

Land: A
Air: A on his own, S with help from Dragreder
Sea: C
Space: C

Upgrades: Shinji has the Survive Rekka card, which he uses to transform into Kamen Rider Ryuki Survive; it is his ultimate form. The Drag Visor upgrades as well to Drag Visor-Zwei, which now resembles a gun-like blaster which can assume Drag Blade mode with a sword now opening from the visor like a pocket knife; the blade itself measures about 1.2 meters in length. Zwei is German meaning 'Two.'

Shinji's cards are as such in Survive form:

Sword Vent: See above.
Shoot Vent: Dragranzer is summoned to assist for a fire-breathing attack called 'Meteor Bullet.'
Advent: Dragranzer, the upgraded dragon form of Dragreder, is summoned.
Guard Vent: Dragranzer coils around Ryuki's arm as a protective barricade known as the Fire Wall. (In one episode it's used to recoil Kamen Rider Ohja's Metalgelas-based Final Vent Heavy Pressure.)
Strange Vent: A generic card that could be used by anyone of the 13 Riders. Once it's activated, it changes itself into one of the Advent cards used by the 13 Riders randomly. (During the TV series it became the Trick Vent card belonging to Kamen Rider Knight at one point, and another time it became the Steal Vent card of Kamen Rider Odin.) In the case of Ryuki, it follows a pattern: it will consistently copy the next Advent card that the opposing Rider would use. (The actual effect is that it will choose a random vent and activate it. This vent can do nothing, summon, trick or whatever else it picks.)
Final Vent: Ryuki executes what's called the 'Dragon Firestorm' attack, where Dragranzer transforms into a motorcycle and shoots fireballs at it's target before ramming it.

Kamen Rider Ryuki Survive

Land: S
Air: A while riding Dragranzer.
Sea: C
Space: C

Job: A time displaced agent for Shiro Kanzaki on a poorly explained mission with one 'condition': that he doesn't have to confront other Riders in battle.

Suggested Event List: Shinji's canon is over, so he will be participating in Kamen Rider Decade's missions.
